The Consumer Rights Education and Awareness Trust [CREAT] was founded in December 1993 as Vijayanagar Consumer Education Society.

CREAT has established a Consumer Information Centre with a view to disseminate information on various facets of consumer protection, consumer law, environment, consumer advocacy etc.
Advocacy is one of the core activities of CREAT. Advocacy activities include pre-legislative consultation, representing consumers before the Government, Parliamentary Standing Committees etc.
CREAT believes that consumers have the right to Good Governance, in addition to other rights like right to safety, right to information, right to redress etc.

Governance can be called ‘Good’ when it is free from corruption. CREAT is supporting anti-corruption initiatives by way of creating awareness about the dangers of corruption, assisting individuals in taking up complaints about demand for bribes by officials etc.
CREAT is trying to promote transparency in public administration by way of demanding new legislations, participation, representation and advocacy.
